Optima was well known for their European made suspended (with suspension) recumbent bikes. They were made in Holland until 2008 when they moved to their own factory in Taiwan. We have expected to have their Oriental bikes in stock soon but as of 2016 they are still not available. Could they have lost interest in manufacturing recumbent? Stay tuned.
As you would expect from a recumbent designed in Europe, Optima’s bents had all the common Euro features: SWB models with reclined composite seats, rear suspension or dual suspension and your choice of Over Seat Steering (OSS) or Under-Seat-Steering (USS). If you are looking for a bent with these features check out recumbent models from HP Velotechnik and AZUB. If you like USS and are more interested in a bike that folds than a bike with suspension check out Linear Recumbents.
