HP Velotechnik Grasshopper Recumbent Bicycles
The HP Velo Grasshopper recumbent bike is very similar to a Streetmachine GTe with dual 20″ wheels. The Grasshopper fits petite riders better than the Streetmachine but I’m 6’3″ and can ride one, especially the folding Grasshopper FX model. Both have similar aluminum mono tube frames and dual suspension like the Streetmachine GTe. They ride similarly.
The extensive list of options available on the Streetmachine are also available on the Grasshopper.
One option difference is this: OSS is an extra cost option on the Streetmachine while USS is extra cost option on the Grasshopper. With 20″ wheels the Grasshopper is smaller and significantly easier to pack, store or transport in a car.
Also available is the folding Grasshopper FX version for travel in airline luggage.
The FX has a longer wheelbase which many riders feel gives better handling than the standard Grasshopper.
As always it is best to try several recumbents before you make your final.
